How can I travel to Hawai‘i?
Beginning October 15, travelers (5 and older) can go to Hawai'i without quarantining when they take a valid COVID-19 test within 72 hours from the final leg of departure, show proof of a negative test result, take an arrival temperature check, and get a secondary screening if exhibiting symptoms or temperatures of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher upon arrival. Travelers to the Big Island will be required to take a second COVID-19 test upon arrival, the test will be administered and paid for by local government entities. Testing facilities are available throughout the country. AAA travel agents can help you as your trip approaches, or you can check the resources below, the Hawai‘i COVID-19 website, and the Hawai'i Department of Health’s site for updated guidance on traveling to Hawai‘i.
What is the Safe Travels application?
As of September 1, all travelers (18 and older) must complete the new Safe Travels application online. The names of each child traveling with an adult will need to be included in the adult's Safe Travels program application. The digital application, which collects required health and travel information, is critical to protecting the health and safety of residents and visitors. Safe Travels is part of a multi-layered screening process which includes arrival temperature checks and secondary screening for those with symptoms or temperatures of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. Read the full announcement with details on Safe Travels, or find and complete the application online.
Where can I find more information?
We recommend all travelers follow state and local guidelines, as well as guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC). These guidelines are updated regularly in response to current events and the newest prevention research. Visit the CDC website regularly for more information.
Where can I get tested?
Testing is available at a variety of locations, including facilities the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) have set up throughout the country. Testing is also available through select locations for many companies including CVS Pharmacy, Rite Aid Pharmacy, Walgreens, and Quest Diagnostics. Visit the HHS website for more information.
Where can I find more about interisland travel?
Interisland travel information and the interisland limited quarantine requests can be found on the Kauai County and Maui County websites. Interisland visitors arriving on O‘ahu are not subject to a mandatory quarantine. The Big Island is still requiring a 14-day interisland travel quarantine.
